CLARA BLAKESLEE
The Art
Publication Society was formed to supply the
recognized demand for a progressive series of
authoritative and standardized text books to be
used in piano instruction. The most familiar
names on the editorial staff are those of Godowsky,
Hoffman and Busoni.
The lessons cover
fourteen subjects, all absolutely necessary for a
thorough musical education: Elementary
Theory for Beginners, Technic and Theory of
Practice, Harmony, Interpretation, Form and Melody
Writing, Memorizing, Sight Reading, Pedaling,
Touch and Tone Production, Transposition, Ear
Training, Improvisation, Embellishment and General
Musicianship. In their compilation each
subject was first treated thoroughly and the
material arranged in consecutive order, then all
were interwoven in such a manner that the student
may realize and benefit by the relation each bears
to the study of others.
The Progressive Series of
Piano Lessons is now being used by over
2,000 schools, convents and music teachers.
The fact that the HORNER INSTITUTE OF FINE ARTS
has arranged to present the Progressive Series is
indication that the school is modern and
up-to-date. The work is carried on in connection
with private lessons with an authorized teacher
and is in charge of Miss Blakeslee.
