Patrick H. Madden was born in Ireland February 24,
1843. He came to this country in 1851, locating at Madison,
Indiana, where he received his education in the public schools, and
later, when his parents removed to a farm in Wisconsin, he attended
the district schools.
His first employment was as a clerk in
Keokuk, Ia., and then in 1859 he located in Leavenworth, Kas. He
served two terms as City Clerk, one term as City Treasurer, and a term
as Deputy County Clerk.
In 1878 he came to Kansas City. For a
while he was in the Auditor's office of the Kansas Pacific Railroad,
but in 1880 he engaged in the real estate business, in which he still
remains. He was in partnership with Colonel Charles E. Kearney
for nine years, and has done much to develop the resources of Kansas
City.
He has served terms as president and
vice-president of the Kansas City Real Estate Exchange, and has been a
director continuously.
He married Miss Annie Bannon in Leavenworth
in 1875, and is the father of two children.
