Combine sugar, cornstarch and
salt in top of a double boiler.
Add milk slowly, mixing well.
Cook until thickened, stirring
constantly; then cook and stir
for 10 more minutes. Stir
small amount of hot mixture into
slightly beaten egg yolks, pour
back into hot mixture, beat, and
cook one minute longer.
Remove from heat, add butter and
vanilla. Cool thoroughly.
Pour small amount into baked

pie shell, add sliced bananas
and cover with remaining
filling. Top with meringue
or whipped cream. |
