Spread
marmalade evenly over the bottom
of a greased 9 x 5 x 3" loaf
pan. Arrange pecan halves
over marmalade. Sift
flour, baking powder, salt and
sugar together; add wheat germ
and chopped pecans. In
another bowl, combine egg, milk
and melted shortening. Add
milk mixture to dry ingredients
and mix only enough to moisten
the dry ingredients. Turn
batter into pan. Bake in a
moderate oven (350 F.) for one
hour, or until loaf is done.
Turn out on rack, marmalade side
up. Cool. |
