Famous Green Parrot Inn Bread Recipes
 

GREEN PARROT GINGERBREAD

1 c. sugar   1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs 1 c. sorghum or dark
3 c. sifted flour     molasses (not black-
1 tsp. soda     strap)
2 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. sour milk or
      buttermilk
 

Cream sugar and shortening together; add eggs and sorghum.  Sift dry ingredients together, and add alternately with sour milk or buttermilk.  Bake in muffin cups (with fluted liners) at 350 F. for 15  or 20 minutes.  Extra batter may be kept in the refrigerator for several days.
