Famous Green Parrot Inn Bread Recipes
 

DENVER ROLLS

1 qt. milk, scalded   1 c. mashed potatoes
1 c. sugar 1 cake yeast
1 c. shortening (scant) 1/2 c. warm water
1 tsp. soda 2 tsp. baking powder
4 to 5 c. flour (twice) 1 tb. salt
 

Mix scalded milk, potatoes, sugar and shortening.  Cool.  Dissolve yeast in warm water.  Add yeast, soda and baking powder to first mixture.  Ad 4 to 5 cups of flour.  Let rise 2-1/2 hours.  Add salt, and another 4 to 5 cups of flour.  Knead on board, and let rise for two hours.  Work down and make into rolls, or store in refrigerator.
