Organized October, 1908. Locations, one south of
Independence on Alton avenue, and one southwest of
Independence on Chrysler road. Producers and
originators of a great variety of flower and vegetable seed;
principal products: plants, cut flowers, nursery stock
and seeds, consisting of Ayres giant sweet peas, Ayres
improved Grand Rapids lettuce, Ayres sunny slope Nasturtium
and many others. Employ from 10 to 40 persons,
depending upon the season of year and enjoy a heavy trade in
cut flowers in and about Kansas City. Seed are sold
throughout America and considerable export trade reported
lately. We have just completed three large greenhouses
of 12,000 square feet at our farm on South Chrysler road, to
be used as an experimental station for the purpose of
originating and improving flowers and vegetables. |
