THE
WEEK'S EVENTS |
Miss Jane Cowl will be seen
in "Lilac Time" at the Shubert this week. The play
was written by Miss Cowl and Mrs. Jane Murfin. In the
notable supporting company which will be seen with Miss Cowl during
her engagement here may be mentioned: Orme Caldara, Henry
Stephenson, Percy Warram, Cecil Owen, Charles Hampden, T. J. MaGrane,
Emile Detramont, Michelette Burani, Henry Crocker and Harry Hanlon.

Stella Mayhew, singing
comedienne, comes to the Orpheum this week as the headline
attraction. She will give a number of songs written for her by
her husband, Billee Taylor, her former vaudeville partner, who is
now a United States army officer. Miss Una Clayton and company
will be featured in "Keep Smilin'." Another attraction
will be Santi in a series of dances of the Orient. She will be
assisted by Miss Alta Krom, soprano. Others will be:
Maud Earl and company, in "The Vocal Verdict;" Harry Mayo
and Basil Lynn, comedians and songsters; Phina and company, in a
singing and dancing act; Albert Donnelly, the silent humorist, and
the travel weekly.

The Denishawn dancers
presented by Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn is the headline attraction
at the Empress thsi week. Billy King will offer his latest
musical comedy production, "Exploits in Africa."
Others will be Countess Verona in an artistic instrumentation on the
gypsy czymbalom; Owen and Moore in "Amusing Moments;"
Lawrence Johnson, ventriloquist; the Steiner Duo in a comedy bar
novelty, and the news pictures.

| With a practicality all new
show "The Step Lively Girls" come to the Gayety this
week. Several of last season's players will be seen in the
cast, among them Rich McAllister, harry T. Shannon and Dotson, while
the new members include Raymond Paine, Rhea Hess and Nettie Hyde. |
