Jesse J. Vineyard was born in Platte County, Missouri,
March 13, 1870. His early days were spent in Weston, Mo., and in
1883 his parents removed to Kansas City, where the subject of this
sketch has ever since resided.
He attended the public and high schools of
Kansas City, and after completing his courses entered Washington and
Lee University in Lexington, Va., from which institution he was
graduated in 1891.
Upon his return to Kansas City he taught in
Central High School, occupying the chair of mathematics, and in his
leisure hours studied law. He finally gave up teaching, and
entered the law offices of Warner, Dean, Gibson & McCloud.
He was admitted to practice, and became
senior member of the firm of Vineyard & Thacher, but in 1902 the
firm of Rozzelle, Vineyard & Thacher was formed.
