Franklin Everett Reed, of the well-known law firm of
Reed & Reed, was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, January 8,
1867. From 1869 to 1878 his family resided at Ottawa, Kas., and
from 1879 to 1890 Mr. Reed made his home at Newton, Kas. Since
1890 he has practiced law in Kansas City.
Mr. Reed was graduated from the Newton, Kas.,
High School in 1882, and entered the Kansas State University in 1884,
where he as graduated with the class of 1889, and had the honor to be
elected valedictorian.
Until he was sixteen years old, Mr. Reed
taught school in Harvey County, Kansas. At the University he was
a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He represented the
University in the State oratorical contest in 1889. Mr. Reed's
success in college presaged the success he should have in later life,
his firm being among the most eagerly sought by clients.
Mr. Reed was married in Kansas City in 1896
to Miss Pearlena Kroh. They have one son, Cameron K., five
years old.
