Elliott H. Jones, a young lawyer who has risen
rapidly, was born at Camden, Alabama, July 18, 1870. He resided
there until he was fifteen years old, when he went to Cambridge,
Mass., and prepared for college in the Latin School. For two
years succeeding this he was in the employ of Houghton, Mifflin &
Co., O. H. Houghton of that company being his uncle. He entered
Vanderbilt University at Nashville, Tenn, in 1887, took the degree of
L. L. B. in 1893. August 1, 1893, he came to Kansas City, and
entered the law office of W. C. Scarritt. The firm of Scarritt,
Griffith & Jones was organized January 1, 1896.
Mr. Jones was married December 27, 1894, to
Miss Mattie Scarritt. They have three children, Elliott Scarritt,
Russell Houghton, and Paul, aged seven, five, and two.
Mr. Jones is a member of the Bar Association,
and takes a lively interest in athletics.
